ArmInfo. In a situation where there are no positive scenarios, and the world is engulfed in bombings, destruction and genocide, thinking becomes the most important tool for finding ways to save ourselves, says political scientist, co-founder of the Alternative Projects group Vahe Hovhannisyan.
"The Third Republic faced failures, since thinking, national capital and political institutions developed in parallel, without intersecting. The culmination of this situation was the rise to power of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan," Hovhannisyan wrote on his Facebook account.
The expert expressed the conviction that the Armenian state today, more than ever, needs thinking, generating ideas, since development is impossible without it.
In this vein, he drew attention to the fact that in recent decades, state, political and public institutions have been filled with incompetence, and national capital existed with wild ideas, practically devoid of responsibility and civilization.
"Today, stupidity has become praise, and the absence of an opinion is an important condition for success. Stupidity has accompanied us for too long," the political scientist added.
According to him, until recently, a bright "moral and ethical sermon" sounding from the other side of the ocean shone on the horizon of the Armenian "state thinking."
"Armenian homes - teachers' houses, courtyards and kitchens - were filled with this. The "preacher's" threats to break into the house of this or that person became a brief summary of our national default," Hovhannisyan wrote.
At the same time, the political scientist emphasized that one should not be surprised by the current situation, given the percentage of people in parliamentary factions over the past 20-25 years who "did not know the letters" and could not formulate even one sentence on their own.
The expert noted that for decades, the Armenian people have encountered semi-literate and criminal ministers, governors and mayors. "In Armenia, positions were perceived as a springboard for enrichment, after which officials retreated. How many high-ranking officials left the country immediately after resigning? How many ministers and even presidents did the same? But our country is not a place for labor migration; it is our state, which, surprisingly, began to be perceived as an ownerless territory," Hovhannisyan noted.
In this regard, the political scientist recalled that even during the velvet events of 2018, he said that the revolution of those voting for 10,000 drams was very dangerous. According to Hovhannisyan, voting for 10 thousand drams and the deification of Nikol Pashinyan are different manifestations of the lack of intelligence.
"And what have we done to have a better society and a better citizen? Nothing. Our stupidity has led to a misunderstanding of what our state is in general. Now that there is no visible good scenario, and the world is such that bombings, destruction, forced displacement and genocide of cities and villages are allowed today, thinking becomes the most important factor for us that can formulate paths to salvation," Hovhannisyan added.
At the same time, he drew attention to the fact that the process of getting rid of Nikol Pashinyan and the "post-Nikol" period are associated with serious risks. According to Hovhannisyan, the post-war restoration of Armenia as a whole requires serious intellect, a deep worldview, a correct understanding of time and opportunities, an adequate language of communication with the world and, of course, honesty.
At the same time, he noted that today the Armenian society is divided into several groups: a small group of people with state thinking who live their own lives, that is, on the verge of despair; those who have money and they live their own lives, and the broad masses - theirs. In this regard, Hovhannisyan noted that the most important task of the upcoming leadership is to achieve harmony between state thinking, national capital and institutions. "It remains to be seen whether those who apply for this very leadership understand this. Will, at least after all this, the idea be the most valuable in our country or will everything be as usual," the political scientist summed up.
