ArmInfo. The President of Armenia, Vahagn Khachaturyan, signed a law on launching Armenia's accession process to the European Union, as reported by the press service of the Armenian parliament.
According to the President's decree, the adopted law and its method of adoption are conditioned by the current geopolitical situation. They are aimed at strengthening the sovereignty of Armenia and increasing its ability to resist. The decree emphasizes that the adoption of this law will contribute to the establishment of peace and stability in the region, restoring the balance of power. Additionally, it is noted that it will bring Armenia's national army in line with the modern standards of the armed forces of European Union member states.
According to the President's decree, the adoption of the law will contribute to solving internal stability issues, developing education and culture in line with pan-European values and standards, creating a common civilizational environment, and making Armenian products more competitive in the European market. "Armenia's membership in the European Union will enrich the value system and civilizational model of the European Union with the accumulated experience and originality of centuries-old Armenian history," the decree of the President notes.
According to the decree, the adoption of the draft law to launch the country's assessing process to the European Union does not imply a decrease in revenues or an increase in expenditures for the state budget of Armenia.
