ArmInfo. On April 2, the Committee on External Relations of the Belgian House of Representatives held hearings on the resolution "Establishing Peace in the South Caucasus". The meeting was chaired by the Chair of the Committee, Els Van Hoof, the RA Embassy in Belgium reports.
At the invitation of the Chair of the Committee, RA Ambassador to Belgium Tigran Balayan spoke about Armenia's efforts to establish peace in the South Caucasus. The Ambassador expressed gratitude to the Belgian Parliament for its constant attention to issues important to Armenia, highlighting Belgian Government's support for Armenia. In this context, Tigran Balayan emphasized the importance of deepening Armenian-Belgian cooperation, facilitated by the presence and active engagement of the Belgian Embassy in Yerevan. The Ambassador noted that even after the ethnic cleansing of Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh, Armenia extended a hand of peace to Azerbaijan, proposing to turn the page on hostility and establish civilized relations by signing a peace agreement that would enable cooperation for the sake of stable and prosperous future for the region. He also stressed the importance of the international community's consistent efforts to prevent escalation and support constructive initiatives of Armenia. In response to questions from the deputies, Tigran Balayan provided a comprehensive overview of the Armenia-EU partnership, the "Crossroads of Peace" project, and efforts to diversify the Armenian economy.
