ArmInfo. Citizens of Armenia should evaluate to what extent the European aspirations of the Armenian authorities correspond to their interests and how promising this is. Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry Rodion Miroshnik stated this in a conversation with journalists in Yerevan.
He pointed out that the Russian side has repeatedly said that it does not intend to interfere in the internal affairs of other states, including Armenia. He then called for looking at the similar experience of other countries in this matter, for example, Ukraine, and drawing their own conclusions. "It is unlikely that Armenia will be able to combine participation in the CSTO, the EAEU with the EU. Just analyze to what extent Armenia is interested moving towards the EU from an economic point of view and what economic prospects there are in this regard. Assess the markets in which Armenia is present, and what income it receives from them. It is unlikely that it will be possible to sit on two chairs," he emphasized.
Touching upon the statements about the warming of Armenian-Russian relations, Miroshnik noted that it can only be welcomed. "We would like to deepen normal relations at all levels, including within the framework of the CSTO. We welcome the economic projects that are developing between Armenia and Russia. The door is open from the Russian side here, and it is up to the Armenia side to decide what to do next," he said.
