ArmInfo.Today, on behave of the Third President of the RA, Chairman of the RPA Serzh Sargsyan tribute was paid at the Erablur military pantheon to the memory of the fallen heroes of the April 2016 victorious Four Day War and all sons of our nation who gave their lives in the Artsakh liberation war.
A wreath was laid on behalf of President Sargsyan at the memorial dedicated to the eternal memory for the fallen heroes.
Nine years ago, on the night of April 2, 2016, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces committed a large-scale military aggression against Nagorno-Karabakh.
The war was accompanied by war crimes, gross violations of the laws and customs of war, as well as international humanitarian law.
The April military actions were considered the largest-scale since the ceasefire agreement of May 1994. During the hostilities from April 2 to 5, all Armenian military units, including artillery, tank crews and anti- tank units, demonstrated excellent performance.
During the intense fighting, units of the Artsakh Defense Army destroyed 2 Azerbaijani helicopters attacking the positions of the Armenian side, 26 tanks, as well as 14 drones, 1 BM-21 ("Grad") rocket and artillery mount, 4 infantry fighting vehicles and 1 engineering mount.
During the fighting on the contact line, the Armenian side lost 64 servicemen, 13 volunteers, 4 civilians, more than 120 people were wounded, another 9 servicemen died after the cessation of the active phase of hostilities, in the period up to April 13, several died later in hospitals.
Based on the State Department data presented on May 16 in Vienna in the same year, it becomes clear that in addition to 81 losses on the Armenian side, about 270 Azerbaijanis died. At the same time, analysts of the international research group Bellingcat estimated Baku's losses at 400-500 killed soldiers.
