As reported by the press service of the chancery of the Mother See, His Holiness expressed appreciation for Hungary's initiatives in support of the Armenians of Artsakh. Addressing the issue of Armenian captives and prisoners detained in Baku, he gratefully acknowledged that, through cooperation between the Hungarian government and the Mother See, five Armenian prisoners of war returned to their homeland in 2021.
The meeting also covered Armenian-Hungarian cooperation, inter-church relations, and the national and spiritual life of the Armenian community in Hungary. During the conversation, Reverend Vilmos Fischl spoke about Armenian-Hungarian historical ties and emphasized the importance of enhancing relations between the two peoples, united by shared Christian values.
