ArmInfo. The number of serious crimes decreased in Armenia in 2024. This is stated in the report on the activities of the prosecutor's office for the past year.
According to the document, 40,232 crimes were registered in the Republic of Armenia in 2024 (40,666 cases in 2023), of which 18,397 (20,231 cases in 2023) were in Yerevan. Compared to 2023, the number of crimes decreased by 434 or 1.1%.
In 2024, a decrease in the number of serious crimes was noted. In particular, the number of cases of medium-severity crimes decreased by 595 or 4.6% (in 2023 - 12 thousand 848 cases, in 2024 - 12 thousand 253 cases), the number of cases of serious crimes decreased by 598 or 9.8% (in 2023 - 6116 cases, in 2024 - 5518 cases), and the number of cases of especially serious crimes increased by 422 or 25.1% (in 2023 - 1678 cases, in 2024 - 2100 cases).
Along with the decrease in the crime rate in 2024, an increase in the crime detection rate of 3.4% was recorded.
According to the Police Information Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the crime detection rate in 2024 was 22.1% against 18.7% in 2023.
