ArmInfo. Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II received a delegation led by the President of the Department of External Relations of the European Economic and Social Committee, Dimitris Dimitriadis. Vassilis Maragos, the head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, was also part of the delegation.
As reported by the press office of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, during the meeting the Patriarch welcomed the efforts of the Department of External Relations of the European Economic and Social Committee in promoting economic stability, social justice and the protection of rights. He specifically mentioned the importance of resolving the issues faced by the forcibly displaced Armenians of Artsakh. The Armenian Patriarch also expressed concern over the security challenges in Armenia, the destruction and appropriation of Armenian spiritual and cultural heritage in Artsakh, and the Armenian captives still held in Azerbaijan. He emphasized the need for consistent efforts by the international community to prevent Azerbaijan's aggressive policy and restore peace in the region. In turn, Dimitris Dimitriadis, thanked His Holiness for the reception and discussed the Committee's programs and the potential for advancing economic and social dialogue with Armenia.
