ArmInfo. The election headquarters of the Democratic Alternative party has condemned the statement made Sarik Minasyan, the Gyumri mayoral candidate from the ruling Civil Contract party, during a televised debate. Minasyan stated on Public Television that "Artsakh was such a bad place that Gyumri residents gave bribes so that their children would not be drafted there for a military service."
The party's leader, political scientist Suren Surenyants, noted in a statement on his Telegram page that by making these statements, Minasyan is drawing a distinction between the residents of Artsakh and Gyumri. Surenyants emphasized that such actions by the authorities and their candidate are directed against national unity. In this regard, the political scientist stated that political competition should not erode social solidarity and national unity.
