ArmInfo. In Gyumri, the Armenian authorities are resorting to political terror. This was stated by Eduard Sharmazanov, a member of the Executive Body of the Republican Party and former Vice-Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, in a conversation with journalists on March 28.
Recall that the day before, investigative bodies in Gyumri conducted large-scale inspections in the offices of a number of opposition forces, as a result of which 8 people were detained who are suspected of distributing election bribes. This action was carried out literally 2 days before the elections to the City Council of Elders.
According to Sharmazanov, what is happening today in Gyumri has been going on throughout the country for the past seven years. "It is during the election period that the true face of RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is revealed. As soon as he sees serious opposition to his government, he immediately resorts to terror," said the former vice-speaker of the National Assembly, recalling Pashinyan's earlier threats to "lay them down on the asphalt," "smear them on the wall," etc., addressed to people he dislikes.
Sharmazanov believes that by constantly falling into a state of hysteria, the current authorities very often resort to a style of work that is familiar to them. "On a global level, they are well aware that their government is unstable," Sharmazanov said, emphasizing that he does not intend to go into details regarding the election process in Gyumri, since the citizens themselves will make their choice.
"Nevertheless, I will say that the candidate for mayor of the city, MP from the "I have the honor" faction Martun Grigoryan is our comrade. I came to the court building to support him and his son, who is also our comrade. We condemn this political terror that the authorities are carrying out against the Grigoryan family," said the former vice-speaker of the RA National Assembly. It should be noted that today the Anti- Corruption Court of Armenia is discussing the issue of arresting the father and son of Martun Grigoryan.
