ArmInfo. The production of new biometric passports and identification cards for Armenian citizens will begin in the second half of 2026. This was announced at a meeting of the tender committee for the selection of the project contractor, chaired by RA Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan.
As reported by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the meeting included a ceremony of opening the packages of financial proposals received from two participants in the previously announced international competition - a consortium of two companies AUGENTIC GmbH and Imprensa Nacional Casa da Moeda, and IDEMIA Identity Security France and A.C.I. Technology S.a.r.l., whose representatives took part in the ceremony.
The financial proposals submitted by the two applicant companies met the established requirements and criteria. The final evaluation of the applications is planned to be carried out by the end of March. The name of the winning company, with which the relevant agreement will be concluded, will be announced on March 31. The winner of the competition will undertake obligations to form a new infrastructure for issuing biometric documents, including the arrangement of offices, the introduction of server facilities and printing equipment, and the use of new software solutions. Earlier, Arpine Sargsyan reported that the program is being implemented on the basis of a public-private partnership. She noted that the new passports and ID cards will comply with all international standards, which will allow traveling citizens of the country to freely cross the borders of other states.
