ArmInfo. The Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia insists on bringing the former mayor of Yerevan, now a member of the National Assembly representing the opposition faction "I Have Honor," Taron Margaryan, to criminal responsibility.
On March 27, RA Prosecutor General Anna Vardapetyan submitted a request to deprive Margaryan of his immunity status to the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia. She noted that the deputy is accused of committing a crime related to the alienation of land plots.
In response, Margaryan announced on social media that he will not participate in the discussions. He claimed that the criminal case against him was fabricated and staged to divert public attention from the "treacherous policy of the authorities." The former mayor stated that he has a great desire to expose the true motives behind this process from the parliamentary podium. "But in doing so, I will become a participant in the current government's propaganda show. The truth has long been obvious to everyone. There are many reasons to speak out, but not within the framework of this political performance," the politician stated.
