ArmInfo. Armenia has not received a response from its Azerbaijani colleagues regarding the proposed meeting of MPs from the two countries' parliamentary committees on foreign affairs to discuss the current state of relations between them. Chairman of the RA National Assembly's Foreign Relations Committee Sargis Khandanyan told journalists on March 27. He noted that he had personally sent an invitation to his colleagues from Azerbaijan, but hasn't received a response yet. The MP expressed hope for a positive reaction from Baku. The meeting could potentially be held in any border area.
Khandanyan emphasized that the text of the peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan has been agreed upon, and now the focus is on determining the place and timing of the signing. Following this, the document will need to be reviewed by the parliaments of both countries. Khandanyan considered Baku's demand to change the Constitution of Armenia for the signing of the document illegitimate. Moreover, the parliamentarian continued, the text of the peace treaty completely resolves the issue of the territorial integrity for both states. Khandanyan noted that Baku's new demands are aimed at stalling the signing process. According to him, the discussions and eventual signing of the treaty, could facilitate the return of Armenian prisoners of war from Baku prisons.
