ArmInfo. Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan told Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu about the latest developments in the process of settling relations between Yerevan and Baku, including the fact of agreeing on a draft peace agreement. Mirzoyan told journalists about this at a press conference following talks with his colleague from Kazakhstan.
Mirzoyan noted that he told Nurtleu about Armenia's proposal to sign the above-mentioned document, as well as about Armenia's other proposals to achieve a comprehensive and sustainable peace.
"As I have repeatedly had the opportunity to note, Armenia's position is clear: recognition of the territorial integrity of the two states and the delimitation process based on the provisions of the Alma-Ata Declaration, as well as the opening of regional communication routes guided by the principles of unconditional respect for the sovereignty and jurisdiction of each state, as well as equality and reciprocity," the Armenian Foreign Minister said.
He also pointed out the obvious fact that for a comprehensive settlement it is also important to resolve humanitarian issues, including clarifying the fate of missing persons and releasing prisoners of war and detained civilians.
"Minister Nurtleu, of course, was previously well aware of Armenia's vision and its constructive approaches, given that he did not remain aloof from the process and hosted a meeting between me and the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan in Almaty last year. Today, I emphasized that after long negotiations, the time has come to sign an agreement and move forward to achieving peace in the South Caucasus and opening up economic opportunities," the Armenian Foreign Minister added.
Summarizing his speech, Mirzoyan noted that the similar position of Armenia and Kazakhstan regarding the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of states, as well as the interest in developing and diversifying regional economic and transport ties further expand the horizons of bilateral cooperation.
