ArmInfo. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received a delegation led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, who is on an official visit to the Republic of Armenia.
As reported by the press service of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, welcoming Araghchi's visit to Armenia, Pashinyan wished him success in his new position and expressed gratitude for his contribution to the consistent development of Armenian-Iranian relations in the previous period. The head of state stressed that cooperation between the two countries is developing successfully, and one of its important preconditions is that the parties have managed to build mutual trust. Nikol Pashinyan emphasized that the relations between Armenia and Iran are based on natural interests, which is an important basis and guarantee for the further development and expansion of relations.
Seyyed Abbas Araghchi thanked for the reception and conveyed the warm greetings of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to Prime Minister Pashinyan. The Iranian Foreign Minister noted that the relations between Armenia and Iran are based on historical economic and cultural relations. According to him, the relations between the two countries are of strategic importance, and the ongoing developments further emphasize the importance of bilateral cooperation. Seyyed Abbas Araghchi emphasized Iran's continued support for the territorial integrity of Armenia and noted the importance of the inviolability of the existing borders in the region.
The interlocutors touched upon the implementation of new projects between Armenia and Iran in the economic sector, including infrastructure and energy. The significance of organizing high-level bilateral visits was emphasized. The parties exchanged views on the need of signing of the peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as other issues of mutual interest.
Prime Minister Pashinyan emphasized that the Government of the Republic of Armenia is committed to the consistent implementation of the peace agenda. Also, the Iranian Foreign Minister expressed his country's support for the signing of the peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, adding that it would contribute to ensuring stability in the region. Prime Minister Pashinyan asked to convey his warm greetings to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
