ArmInfo. The leader of the opposition faction "I have the honor", member of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) Hayk Mamijanyan accused Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Paruyr Hovhannisyan of trying to exaggerate the nature of the current cooperation with the EU.
The MP drew attention to the fact that during a briefing in the Armenian parliament, Hovhannisyan tried to present the document on strategic partnership being discussed with the European Union, which will mention for the first time the cooperation between Armenia and the EU in the field of security, as allegedly "unprecedented".
Mamijanyan expressed his conviction that the statement of the Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia is an obvious lie. In this regard, the opposition MP cited examples of sections of the security documents of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which were agreed upon and signed during the years of the RPA rule. He clarified that in these documents, cooperation in the field of security is presented both in the context of external and internal issues, in the form of separate parts and articles. "This was the first exposure of fraud at today's briefing. New ones will appear in the coming days," Mamijanyan wrote on his Facebook account.
Earlier, on March 24, at a meeting of the RA National Assembly Committee on European Integration, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia recalled that Yerevan and Brussels have been negotiating since February 2024 to begin developing a new agenda for relations, which is intended to complement the CEPA. According to Hovhannisyan, the new agenda for the first time presents issues related to the spheres of defense and security.
