ArmInfo. Taron Margaryan, a member of the Armenian parliament from the opposition faction "I Have Honor", has issued a statement urging his colleagues from other opposition factions not to participate in the "circus" created by the Armenian authorities to deprive him of his parliamentary immunity.
In a statement published on his Facebook page, Margaryan particularly said: "As you know, the agenda for upcoming four-day parliamentary session, starting on March 25 will address the issue of seeking consent from the Prosecutor General to initiate criminal proceedings against me. Moreover, over the past few days, both the Executive Body of the Republican Party of Armenia and our legal team have been providing detailed explanations about this unlawful "criminal case" at various instances.
All this is another episode of political persecution that has been ongoing against me for 7 years now. It is a parade of lies and cowardice, with the sole goal of removing me and my friends from our just struggle." According to him, the current leaders of the country judge everyone by their own standards, failing to realize that these are insignificant deprivations. "No one, no fabricated criminal case will make me give up the fight. I am not worried about obviously fabricated criminal cases, I am worried about what other conspiracies against my homeland they are trying to distract attention from with these shows.
There is a strong desire to expose the true motives and facts of this process from the parliament rostrum, but by doing so, I would be participating in the propaganda efforts of the current regime. The truth has been clear to everyone for a while now and there will be plenty of other opportunities to voice it, but not within the confines of this theater. Nonetheless, the order to fabricate the case has been given, and the vote is merely a formality. Therefore, I urge my colleagues from the "I Have Honor" and "Armenia" factions of parliament not to participate in this circus in any way," Margaryan concluded.
