ArmInfo. Residents of the Vardashen hostel, whose building is currently classified as being in a state of emergency (IV category of emergency), held protests near the Yerevan Municipality and the Government of Armenia. The living conditions in hostel are simply unbearable and pose a direct threat to the residents' health. Protesters said that Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan visited the hostel nearly 2 years ago, saw the living conditions firsthand, and promised to resolve this issue within a year and a half, by providing the residents with a new place to live.
Mainly women were participating in the protest, who blocked the road near City Hall, after which a large number of security forces gathered near the municipality building. Vahan Khachatryan, the head of the Yerevan Municipality Real Estate Department, came out to address the protesters, asking them to wait another 2 months. Unsatisfied with the response, the residents of the hostel then proceeded to the government building. About an hour later, 8 citizens were able to meet Hamlet Nazaryan, the head of the Department for Consideration of Applications, Monitoring, and Evaluation of Citizen Feedback, at the RA Prime Minister's Office. Following the meeting with the latter, the protesters stated that they had submitted another appeal to the RA government in order to understand how long it would take to receive answers to their questions.
