As he prepares to return to the Vatican after his hospitalization and treatment for bilateral pneumonia, Pope Francis renews his call for peace, urging an end to violence in Gaza and other conflict zones and expresses his gratitude for global efforts towards dialogue, especially in the South Caucasus.
Among other things, Pope Francis expressed his gratitude for steps taken toward peace in the South Caucasus, where Armenia and Azerbaijan are moving towards a finalised peace agreement.
"May this be a sign of hope," he prayed, "that other conflicts, too, may find a path to resolution through dialogue and goodwill,"
On March 13, it became known that Yerevan and Baku had completed the approval of the draft peace treaty. At the same time, the Prime Minister of Armenia noted that the time and place of signing the treaty had not yet been determined. According to him, Yerevan is waiting for the go-ahead from Baku. Touching upon the content of the two remaining points that were agreed upon, Pashinyan said that this was an agreement on the non-deployment of third-country forces and the waiver of international claims.
