ArmInfo. In 2025, work will be carried out to improve the professionalism of the employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. This was stated by the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Arpine Sargsyan at the meeting of the National Assembly Committee on Defense and Security Issues on March 21.
According to her, the process of forming the Ministry of Internal Affairs was fully completed in 2024, and now the priority task is to increase the level of functionality of the Ministry's structures. As a result of legislative changes, two educational institutions were merged.
The Minister also announced the development of a draft law, according to which the requirement for admission of persons under 35 years of age to the police system will be removed. Young people aged 18 and over, who have a good command of the Armenian language and the appropriate physical and moral training, will be recruited into the system.
Sargsyan also noted that, according to the adopted law, the process of forming the Police Guard is underway, which will have to act in accordance with the new standards and new methods of using force. Since February of this year, a large-scale process of training future employees of the Police Guard has begun.
The Minister emphasized that the process of recruiting women into the MIA system is ongoing, the selection of whom is carried out on a competitive basis. 625 applications from applicants have already been received, 495 for civil service and 130 for service in the police.
