ArmInfo. The alternative socio-political movement Miasin has unveiled its concept for a change of power in Armenia and demanded protection of the rights of the people of Artsakh. The movement presented its stance on March 20 during a press conference held in Yerevan at the central office of the Democratic Party of Armenia, on the eve of a rally under the slogan "Armenia is our home: let's oust the one who is destroying our home."
During the press conference, Aram Sargsyan, the coordinator of the Miasin movement and the leader of the Democratic Party of Armenia, emphasized that the organization intends to address two key issues. "Firstly, the issue of the return of the people of Artsakh based on their right to self-determination and the protection of their rights, which includes maintaining the financial support program at the amount of "40 + 10" thousand drams. Secondly, the movement proposes that the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) of Armenia initiate the collection of 200,000 signatures to hold a referendum for a non- confidence vote to the current authorities," the politician noted.
Sargsyan added that the decision to take this action was made in light of recent talks on concluding the so- called peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan. In this regard, he stressed the need to change the current authorities' political line to successfully cope with the challenges facing the country. The leader of the Democratic Party also explained that the initiative to hold a referendum is aimed at depriving Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan of power through constitutional means. In turn, the representative of the Miasin movement, Anna Ayvazyan, pointed out that about 120,000 Artsakh residents currently live without proper protection of their rights. She noted that starting from April 1, Artsakh residents may be deprived of the financial support program "40 + 10" thousand drams. This will put many refugees in a desperate situation. Ayvazyan also highlighted the government's failure to provide housing to Artsakh residents. She mentioned former Prime Minister of Armenia Hrant Bagratyan's intention to present a new project in the National Assembly of Armenia to address this issue.
