ArmInfo. Azerbaijan seeks to maintain tension on the territory of Armenia, which explains Baku's frequent accusations against Yerevan about ceasefire violations. Chairman of the RA National Assembly Committee on Defense and Security Andranik Kocharyan told journalists on March 20.
According to him, such behavior by Azerbaijan does not fit into the Armenian side's vision of the future of the region. The deputy emphasized that Yerevan is closely monitoring the development of the situation, and if necessary, the country's armed forces have an action plan to counter the enemy's encroachments.
Speaking about the preconditions that Azerbaijan puts forward for signing a peace treaty with Armenia, Kocharyan noted that such preconditions will be put forward constantly. Earlier, Baku officially stated that from now on it does not see any problems with concluding the treaty, but, as it turned out, this was a temporary phenomenon, which, according to the deputy, would be a good harbinger for the formation of an atmosphere of peace and stability in the region.
Kocharyan emphasized that at one time Azerbaijan, "with its head down", created a defense system, thanks to which it was able to solve the tasks set before it. Armenia, after the conclusion of the ceasefire agreement, having advantages, the victories achieved, reoriented itself to solving personal issues. Today, Azerbaijan has its own advantages, which is quite logical given the status of the winning side. "It is quite possible that the leader of the Azerbaijani state has accumulated so much negativity towards the Armenian people that he is currently trying to extract maximum benefit from the current situation. This is already psychology, but we are moving forward in accordance with the peace agenda. We must understand that peace is needed not only by us, but also by Azerbaijan, Iran, Turkey, everyone needs it. It is easy to fight, it is difficult to achieve peace, which means life, the absence of losses. Why not live in peaceful conditions?" the parliamentarian asked.
