ArmInfo. Baku wants the Armenian people to live in fear and instability, which is why it accuses Armenia of things it has not done. Chairman of the RA National Assembly Committee on Healthcare Arsen Torosyan told journalists on March 19, while commenting on the accusations that Azerbaijan has been making against Armenia for violating the ceasefire for four days now.
According to the MP, this is not the first time that the Armenian side has recorded such a destructive approach from Azerbaijan when these statements are made in a peaceful environment. "I believe that in this case we are talking about an information provocation aimed, first of all, at destabilizing the domestic political situation in the country, so that the Armenian people live in fear and instability," Torosyan said, adding that both the statements from the Defense Ministry and the civilian observers of the European Union refute Baku's claims.
The MP pointed out that the Azerbaijani side has not provided any factual data regarding the alleged shelling of their advanced units by Armenian forces. Torosyan also mentioned that Baku seems unprepared for the swift coordination of the peace treaty draft with Yerevan, and is now taking steps to navigate this unexpected situation. The MP suggested that Azerbaijan may be exaggerating Armenia's perceived uncooperative stance to international centers in order to raise its bargaining power. Against this background, according to the parliamentarian, the Armenian side should not change anything in its policy. "The main thing is our response to these provocations. The RA Ministry of Defense must monitor the situation on the borders and be prepared to respond to any possible developments, but the Armenian side should not stray from the path towards peace," Torosyan said.
