ArmInfo. Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Paruyr Hovhannisyan received a delegation led by Ondrej Benesik, the Chairman of the Committee on European Affairs of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Parliament.
As reported by the press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry, the parties commended the current level of parliamentary dialogue between the two countries, emphasizing the role of legislators in the development of interstate relations. The interlocutors touched upon the opportunities for deepening Armenia-EU partnership, emphasizing Czech in this regard. Hovhannisyan presented to the interlocutors the "Crossroads of Peace" project developed by the Armenian government and the recent developments in the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan. During the meeting, the interlocutors also touched upon several issues of mutual interest on the international and regional agenda.
Today, Czech legislators visited the Tsitsernakaberd Armenian Genocide Memorial Complex. The guests were accompanied to the memorial by Lusine Abrahamyan, Deputy Director for Museum Affairs of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute. She spoke about the history of the creation of the memorial complex, as well as the three khachkars erected on the territory of Tsitsernakaberd in memory of the Armenians who became victims of massacres organized by the Azerbaijani government in the cities of Sumgait, Kirovabad (Gandzak) and Baku at the end of the last century. She also shared stories of five freedom fighters buried in front of the Memorial Wall during the Artsakh War. The guests from the Czech Republic laid flowers at the eternal flame and honored the memory of the innocent victims of the Armenian Genocide with a minute of silence. They also visited the Armenian Genocide Museum, where they viewed the permanent and temporary exhibitions. Afterward, the delegation members left notes in the Book of Honored Guests.
