ArmInfo. While the current authorities enjoy the encouraging statements of various countries and international organizations, the comments of different calibre figures of the ruling regime reveal the grandeur and misery of the entire process of preparing and agreeing of the Armenian-Azerbaijani "peace treaty", as noted in the statement by the Pan-Armenian Diplomatic Council.
The authors of the statement note that this once again confirms that the process of normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan was more of a negotiation imitation, the main purpose of which is to hide the unilateral concessions by Armenia. " It is obvious that responsible executives at the Armenian Foreign Ministry are unable to provide any justification on the compromise steps taken by Azerbaijan and the rejected formulations. There is also no evidence about pursuing and advancing the demands for the withdrawal of Azerbaijani military units from the occupied territories of Armenia, as well as the release of the Armenian POWs and the military-political leadership of Artsakh who are being tortured and suffering from false trials in the Baku prisons." the statement says.
The diplomats also draw attention to the fact that the current regime continues to keep secret the content of that document from the public, despite the statement about the completion of negotiations on all its points. " The further course of the supposedly agreed treaty also raises doubts: while the Armenian side is hinting at the place and time of signing, on the other hand, Azerbaijani officials, without any reservations, are speaking about the prematureness of such issues and are putting forward new demand," the authors of the statement note. The Pan-Armenian Council of Diplomats, taking into account the natural aspirations of the Armenian people to achieve a real and dignified peace, notes that a lasting and stable peace cannot be established by satisfying the maximalist aspirations of only one side of the conflict.
The Armenian diplomats are confident that the current atmosphere of distrust between Armenia and Azerbaijan makes the involvement impartial, reliable and responsible mediation mission highly desirable. "We consider it mandatory to address the following fundamental issues for a fair settlement: The real restoration of the sovereignty of the Republic of Armenia through the recognition of territorial integrity and the withdrawal of Azerbaijani troops. Lifting the blockade and resuming regional communications with the prospect of beneficial economic cooperation for all parties. Enshrining the collective return and other fundamental rights of the people of Artsakh within the framework of international law. The release of all captured and hostages, including the military-political leadership of Artsakh, and active work aimed at clarification of the fate of missing citizens," the statement says.
The diplomats also pointed to the imperative of publishing the contents of the draft peace treaty. " Nikol Pashinyan's administration has no mandate to predetermine the future of the Armenian people, to forget the issue of Armenian Artsakh and to leave the fate of the Armenian nation to the whims of the Baku dictator. Therefore, the conclusion is one: this agreement has nothing to do with peace; on the contrary, signing such an agreement will increase the temptation for Azerbaijan to present new demands or pave the way for a new war against Armenia," the statement concluded.
