ArmInfo. The Armenian Legal Center (ALC) calls for justice and sustainable solutions for women affected by the conflicts in Artsakh, Armenia, as well as in Syria, Lebanon and Jerusalem. The Center's stance on this issue was presented at the 69th session of the Commission on the Status of Women, held in New York.
As ArmInfo was informed by the press service of the Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA), during the current session, the Center raised the issue of the struggle of Armenian women in conflict zones and the need for specific actions to protect them. "Through such initiatives, the Armenian Legal Center reaffirms its commitment to raising awareness and demanding concrete measures from the international community to protect the rights of Armenian women in conflict zones, and forcibly displaced persons. By bringing the voice of the latter to international platforms, the Armenian Legal Center continues to call for justice and sustainable solutions for those who have suffered in Artsakh, Lebanon, Syria and other conflict zones," the statement reads.
In this regard, as the center recalled, on March 12, a seminar was organized at the Church Center of the United Nations (CCUN) in collaboration with the Union of Armenian Relief (UAR), on the topic of "Resilience and Recovery: The Role of Women in Conflict Zones and Health Protection." "The event brought together experts and human rights defenders to discuss the challenges faced by women in Armenia, Artsakh, Syria, Lebanon and Jerusalem, as well as to find possible solutions," the ANCA statement notes.
