The European Union welcomes the statements by Armenia and Azerbaijan on the completion of their negotiations on the draft Agreement on Peace and Establishment of Interstate Relations, as noted in a statement by the EU High Representative/Vice- President Kaja Kallas. "We commend both sides for their persistent work over the past few years in this direction, both on the bilateral track and with the involvement of the international community. The EU welcomes Armenia paving the way for the finalization of the text. The announcements represent a decisive step towards lasting peace and security in the region. It is key to keep this momentum and ensure smooth completion of this process with the same forward-looking and compromise-oriented approach, from both sides," Kallas said in a statement. At the same time, it is emphasized that the EU fully supports the process of normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan and is ready to provide additional support and expertise if the parties request it.
The official representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Mao Ning, also responded to the situation, noting that Beijing welcomes the positive progress achieved in the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan. "Armenia and Azerbaijan are important countries in the Transcaucasus region and good friends and partners of China. China sincerely hopes that the two countries can resolve their conflicts and differences through dialogue and consultations to promote lasting peace, development and prosperity in the region," Ning said.
