ArmInfo. There are issues in the relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan that have been resolved, and there are problems that have yet to be resolved. This was stated by RA Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan at a meeting of the RA National Assembly Committee on Foreign Relations on March 14.
According to him, with the conclusion of a peace treaty, Armenia will be able to get out of the swamp in which it has been for many years. The only path that can lead to peace should be negotiations, despite a number of new demands put forward by Baku.
"Despite the fact that the draft peace treaty contains references to kilometers of sovereign territories, the parties nevertheless mutually recognize each other's territorial integrity," the minister emphasized, pointing out the importance of conducting the border delimitation process. During its implementation, the areas of territory that are part of the territory of Armenia and which are currently under the control of Azerbaijan should also be determined. In general, as Ararat Mirzoyan noted, the draft peace treaty is fully consistent with the national interests of Armenia.
Speaking about the Armenian prisoners of war, whose trial is taking place in Baku, the head of the Foreign Ministry recalled the statement of the RA MFA on this issue, which gave clear assessments.
In response to the question of Artur Khachatryan, a member of the National Assembly from the opposition faction "Armenia", about why the border delimitation process begins with the Armenian- Georgian section, the minister emphasized that there is no country in the world that would conduct this process from a place convenient for it.
The day before it was known that Armenia and Azerbaijan had fully agreed on the text of the peace treaty.
