Final session of  Model UN conference  at Armenia`s MFA

ArmInfo. The final session and closing ceremony of the Model UN conference, organized jointly with the UN Office in the country, were held at the Armenian MFA. The conference was dedicated to the 33rd anniversary of Armenia's accession to the UN and the Day of the RA Diplomat.

As reported by the press service of the Armenian MFA, the event commenced with opening remarks from Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan, Secretary General of the MFA David Karapetyan and UN Resident Coordinator in Armenia Francoise Jacob. The opening was followed by a simulation of the UN Human Rights Council session involving young delegates representing member states, observers of the HRC, and NGOs. Following the conference, the participants issued a Youth Declaration.

Karapetyan welcomed the engagement of young people in  international relations and diplomacy, commended their participation  in the event and highlighted the permanent nature of the event. The best participants of the Model UN conference will have the opportunity to intern at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and the UN Office in Armenia.
