Political scientist: As long as official Yerevan remains silent, statements by the European Parliament will not affect Baku`s actions regarding Armenian PoWs

ArmInfo. Unless the official  Yerevan addresses the issue of Armenian prisoners of war,  Azerbaijan's actions will remain unaffected by decisions or  statements from the European Parliament or other international  organizations. This was stated by former member of the Republic party  and political scientist Suren Surenyants at a press conference in  Yerevan on March 12.

The politician emphasized that while the statements from the European  Parliament and the coalition of American Christian leaders hold  certain significance, they alone will not change the situation  without proactive measures from the Armenian authorities. In this  regard, he recalled that following the message of the former State  Minister of Artsakh Ruben Vardanyan, only one or two statements were  issued by the Armenian Foreign Ministry. Meanwhile, the Speaker of  the Parliament, Alen Simonyan, and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan  made statements that "nullified" these limited messages from the   Foreign Ministry.
