ArmInfo.Chess tournaments for amateurs and professionals, are being organized in Armenia, following the Swiss format with 11 rounds according to FIDE rules. The tournaments have already begun in 7 regions and 10 cities across the country.
The press service of Rossotrudnichestvo informed ArmInfo that the participants come from come from regions such as Syunik, Lori, Armavir, Tavush, Gegharkunik, Vayots Dzor and Kotayk. Additionally, chess players from Kapan, Meghri, Kajaran, Vanadzor, Armavir, Dilijan, Ijevan, Vardadzor, Malishka and Hrazdan have also joined the tournament.
The names of the first winners in the tournaments held in Vanadzor and Armavir are already known. It has been noted that the chess tournament in Vanadzor brought together over hundred amateurs and professionals from all over the region. Karen Sassounian, the coordinator at the Chess Academy of Armenia in Armavir region, emphasized the importance of such competitions for the development of the chess movement in the region. According to him, the tournament has sparked interest among all chess enthusiasts, regardless of age.
