ArmInfo. Yerevan residents went out to protest, demanding that the city authorities repair the road on Arin Berd Street, which is in a deplorable state.
The protesters told journalists that they were forced to take to the streets and draw the attention of the city authorities to the critical condition of the road on Arin Berd Street, which has not been repaired for a long time. At the same time, as the protesters noted, the road is of great importance, including economic importance, since many enterprises are located on it. According to the demonstrators, trucks constantly use this road, as a result, the road cannot withstand the load and the asphalt quickly becomes unusable.
They said that they have repeatedly contacted the Yerevan City Hall on this issue, even wrote to the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, but have not received a response to the problem they voiced.
The protesters also noted that the last major repairs to the road were carried out about ten years ago.
"The letter sent to the Yerevan Municipality indicated that accidents occurred in 2023 and 2024 due to the poor condition of the road. Although repairs were planned for the first half of 2025, no specific actions have been taken yet. However, it should also be noted that regular repairs will not solve the problem: the road needs to be concreted, otherwise the situation will repeat itself within a year or two," one of the protesters explained.
According to the protesters, the poor condition of the road also leads to significant dust formation. In addition, according to them, many of the residents living on this street cannot get to work due to the lack of transport, since drivers refuse to drive on this road.
The protesters also drew attention to the lack of lighting on the street, which further complicates travel. In addition, according to them, the sewage system of some residents has collapsed due to large vehicles passing by. Despite appeals to the mayor's office, the problem has not yet been resolved. "We no longer have trust. We have been calling for two years and asking to repair the road. But the facts are there: nothing has been done for many years. Since 2023, people have been constantly appealing, but the issue does not receive due attention," the protesters said.
