
ArmInfo. The fight against illegal drug trafficking requires constant control, the introduction of innovative methods and close cooperation between interested structures. This was stated by Deputy Chief of Police of the Republic of Armenia Vardan Vardanyan at a meeting of the interdepartmental commission on the prevention of trafficking and illegal distribution of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances in the Republic of Armenia.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, emphasizing the multifaceted nature of the efforts undertaken in the fight against illegal drug trafficking, Vardan Vardanyan noted the need to involve industry specialists in explanatory work, especially among minors.
According to him, the success of prevention largely depends on the effective combination of educational and psychological approaches. The Deputy Chief of Police noted that the fight against illegal drug trafficking requires constant control, the introduction of innovative methods and close cooperation between interested structures.
"Only by implementing systematic and consistent measures will it be possible to achieve the desired results in both prevention and detection," said the Deputy Chief of Police.
Meanwhile, as Veronika Khorasanyan, Head of the Strategic Planning Department of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, noted in her speech, she pointed out the need for a comprehensive solution to the problem, since shifting responsibility from one side to the other is unacceptable. "Both society and government agencies and NGOs should participate in solving this issue in order to achieve the best overall result," Veronika Khorasanyan noted.
The meeting presented information on the work done to combat drug trafficking in 2024 and summed up the results.
An active discussion took place on possible tools for preventing drug trafficking among minors, as well as new formats for interaction between law enforcement agencies and educational systems.
"Parents should also make a serious contribution to solving this problem. I think it is equally important for the relevant departments to take measures to work with parents in a targeted manner. Teachers have a serious burden of correctly presenting and nurturing not only academic knowledge, but also promoting a healthy lifestyle and educating literate citizens," Veronika Khorasanyan noted.
Emphasizing the important role of parents and teachers in informing and preventing, a methodological manual is being developed for them at the initiative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which, according to Vardan Vardanyan, is an important step towards providing the necessary information about the dangers of drugs from the very beginning and preventing drug addiction among minors.
According to Edgar Petrosyan, Head of the Department of Professional and Methodological Support of the Main Department of the Communal Police, the police confirms its commitment to completing the work on developing a manual for raising awareness in the field of preventing illegal drug trafficking and more effectively implementing these works, which are being carried out jointly with partners from the UN and UNICEF.
"Moreover, our partners in the field of education have also expressed a desire to join these works and implement them jointly," Edgar Petrosyan noted.
Also on the agenda was the proposal of the State Revenue Committee to sign an interdepartmental document defining the procedure, format and timing of the exchange of information between departments.
