ArmInfo. Former RA Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian's proposal to halt negotiations with Azerbaijan until all Armenian prisoners of war are released, was deemed unreasonable by the current head of the Armenian Foreign Ministry, Ararat Mirzoyan.
During the government session in the National Assembly, the head of the RA Foreign Ministry emphasized that it is alarming that a person who has been in charge of the country's foreign policy for a long time is now guided by such an attitude. He also noted that previous negotiations led by Oskanian didn't yield any results. Mirzoyan expressed hope that Oskanian's judgment was more sound in the past.
The Minister added that Yerevan is eager to continue negotiations with Azerbaijan to finalize a peace agreement. The Armenian side is committed to taking constructive steps towards the earliest possible signing of the document, while also expecting other issues, including the release of prisoners of war, to be addressed. The Armenian Foreign Ministry has already issued a statement on this matter.
