ArmInfo. The Armenian authorities want to see the Armenian youth as creative, proactive, capable and competitive. The National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia adopted the draft law "On Youth Policy" and a package of related laws in the second and final reading at the plenary session on March 5.
According to Artur Martirosyan, Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia, the Government of the Republic of Armenia has previously developed and proposed sectoral strategies and programs related to youth policy, but until now there has been no law defining the priorities of state policy in this area and providing legal clarifications on the implementation of this policy.
The law "On Youth Policy" proposed by the government is intended to fill this gap. "The law defines state youth policy as a system of programs and measures adopted by the government aimed at identifying and developing the abilities of young people, satisfying their educational, cultural and social interests and preferences, solving youth problems and shaping public opinion around these problems, as well as increasing the level of participation of young people in cultural, political, socio-economic life," the speaker emphasized, adding that youth policy is aimed at developing creative, proactive, capable and competitive young people.
The initiative specifies the subjects of youth policy, determines the age of young people at whom youth policy is aimed - 13-35 years. The main subjects of the youth sphere, their functions, powers and responsibilities are established.
