


ArmInfo.The threats face by Armenian communities are not directly related to the Republic of Armenia, but when they arise, the community often turn to us for help. High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs Zareh Sinanyan made this statement during a press conference, discussing the issue of the Jerusalem Municipality confiscating the historical property owned by the Armenian Patriarchate in Jerusalem.
However, Sinanyan made it clear that one should not count on the help of the Armenian authorities. , he noted. The Chief Commissioner said that the Armenian community of Jerusalem is currently experiencing serious problems related to the confiscation of property and the demand of the Jerusalem Municipality to fulfill tax obligations to the Patriarchate, starting from the 80s. He also pointed out the difficult situation for the Armenian communities in Ukraine, Syria and Lebanon.
Sinanyan also highlighted the unsafe situation of Armenian communities in Middle Eastern Arab countries. He mentioned that despite the absence of military actions in Syria, the situation remains unstable with many unresolved issues for the population. Therefore, following the Prime Minister's instructions, he will visit this country in early April to assess the state of the Armenian Diaspora.
