UN High Commissioner for Human Rights: All persons arbitrarily  detained in Azerbaijan, including Armenians, must be released  immediately

ArmInfo. All individuals, who have been arbitrarily detained in Azerbaijan, including Armenians,  must be released immediately and their rights to a fair trial must be  fully respected. This statement was made by UN High Commissioner for  Human Rights Volker Turk in his report presented at the 58th session  of the Human Rights Council in Geneva.

Turk said that he was closely following the ongoing peace talks  between Armenia and Azerbaijan and expressed hope that they would  lead to discovery of truth, healing and reconciliation. In this vein,  he expressed his willingness to support this process.

He also addressed the issue of all persons arbitrarily detained in  Azerbaijan, including Armenians. "They must be released immediately  and their rights to a fair trial must be fully respected," said Turk.  A video clip of his speech was shared by the Permanent Mission of  Armenia to the UN Office in Geneva and other international  organizations.
