ArmInfo. Against the backdrop of the trial of Armenian prisoners of war in Baku, the psychological and physical violence exerted on them, Azerbaijan has put the issue of expelling the mission of the International Committee of the Red Cross on the agenda. This was written on his Facebook page by Tigran Abrahamyan, a member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia from the opposition faction With Honor.
According to his post, as in the case of various non-governmental organizations, international structures or mass media, first a propaganda attack begins against them within the country, then accusations of espionage or some other actions are brought forward. As the parliamentarian noted, there is no serious international pressure on Azerbaijan, which is gradually moving from authoritarianism to totalitarianism. "Today, media outlets are being closed, tomorrow people are being arrested for expressing freedom of speech, not to mention that all media outlets and organizations that can somehow document the rapid decline of democracy and the rise of violence in the country are being consistently closed in Azerbaijan. From our point of view, the problem is more complex, since various connections and contacts with our compatriots in Baku prisons are carried out through the International Committee of the Red Cross. I am not yet saying that through this committee one can get visual contact and a more or less objective picture of what is happening to our compatriots in Baku," Tigran Abrahamyan emphasized.
