ArmInfo. In 2018, individuals lacking experience in governing the country or involvement in negotiations on Artsakh came to power. Seyran Ohanyan, the head of the opposition faction "Armenia" in the Armenian parliament and former Minister of Defense, made this statement on February 28 at the "Tsitsernakaberd" memorial complex where memorial events are being held today to commemorate the 37th anniversary of the Armenian pogroms in Sumgait.
In a conversation with journalists, Ohanyan highlighted the ongoing the genocidal actions of Azerbaijan. He pointed out that Azerbaijan is trying to rewrite Armenian history by claiming the existence of the so- called "Western Azerbaijan". The oppositionist emphasized that raising this issue only on international platforms is insufficient.
The MP drew attention to the fact that in the current reality, Azerbaijan's genocidal actions are taking place against the backdrop of a theatrically organized judicial farce against the military-political leadership of Artsakh and other prisoners held in Baku dungeons. "All rights are violated there, and not only these people are judged, but also the right of Artsakh, as well as Armenia, to self-determination. After all this, turning a blind eye to these issues and neglecting to advocate for the rights of our people and prisoners is, at the very least, immoral," he explained. Ohanyan criticized the current government for its silence and refusal to file lawsuits in international courts, noting that such actions are unacceptable when dealing with an aggressive state like Azerbaijan.
