ArmInfo. The Armenian authorities' initiative to push for a new Constitution does not serve the state interests of the country, and may aggravate both its security and political vulnerability, as stated by Henrik Danielyan, the head of the youth organization of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), when discussing the intentions of the current authorities to start the process of amending the country's Constitution.
"Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, who is losing public trust, is trying to retain power through constitutional amendments," the head of the RPA youth organization wrote on his Facebook page. Additionally, Danielyan pointed out that changing the Constitution could potentially weaken Armenia's territorial integrity, restrict the country's rights in international bodies, and establish mechanisms that perpetuate power. In this vein, the head of the RPA youth organization urged for a firm stance against any constitutional changes that may jeopardize the sovereignty, state security and national interests of Armenia.
