ArmInfo. A scandalous audio recording has appeared in the Armenian segment of social media, in which unknown individuals call on bus drivers not to drive the vehicle if passengers do not pay for the fare.
The audio recording urges drivers not to remain indifferent to citizens' payment for the fare, and in case of passengers' refusal, not to go on the route. "Nobody should ride for free. If they do not pay, then the transport should not move," the recording says.
The unknown individuals also suggest that drivers check passengers' QR codes before boarding. "Let them get off, buy a QR code and board the next bus for the penny they put in," the audio recording says.
In addition, the recording calls on drivers to report opposition representatives boarding their transport and not to open both doors of the bus at once in order to be able to track citizens' payment for the fare. It can be assumed that those who instructed the drivers were either representatives of the Yerevan City Hall or Yerevan Buses CJSC.
ArmInfo News Agency was unable to obtain a comment from the Yerevan City Hall regarding the distributed audio recording.
Reacting to the scandalous audio recording, the leader of the Mother Armenia opposition faction in the Yerevan City Council Andranik Tevanyan wrote that the ruling party's actions against the ongoing boycott should become another incentive for citizens to stop the unjustified increase in the cost of public transport. Tevanyan also emphasized that the boycott has already become a matter of dignity for citizens.
