As noted in the report, the current state and prospects for the development of relations between Armenia and the EU will be discussed during the meeting. A press conference of the Committee co-chairs - Chairman of the RA NA Committee on European Integration Arman Egoyan and Member of the European Parliament Nils Usakovs will be held on the same day.
At its regular meeting on February 12, the Armenian Parliament adopted in the first reading the draft law on the beginning of the country's accession process to the European Union. 63 deputies voted for the adoption of the law, seven voted against. Only representatives of the ruling Civil Contract faction voted for the adoption of the document. The opposition Armenia faction did not participate in the vote, while another opposition faction With Honor voted against. On January 9, the Armenian government approved this bill. As Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated at the time, the decision on the country's accession to the EU should be made through a national referendum. According to him, Armenia is comfortable in the EAEU, but the government sees that a significant part of the people wants the country to join the European Union.
