ArmInfo. In Yerevan, in the building of the veterans' association named after the legendary commander, the Center of Military Glory - the museum of the famous Soviet military leader, Marshal of the Soviet Union Ivan Baghramyan has opened.
The official opening of the museum was accompanied by the traditional cutting of the red ribbon, which was entrusted to the grandson of the marshal Ivan Baghramyan and veteran of the Great Patriotic War Rozalia Abgaryan.
"For our family, this is a great pride and a significant holiday," the grandson of the marshal emphasized.
During the ceremony, the chairman of the Marshal Baghramyan Veterans' Association of Armenia Simon Yesayan noted that by opening the Center of Military Glory - the Ivan Khristoforovich Baghramyan Museum, the Armenian people also pay tribute to the hundreds of thousands of Armenian soldiers who fought during the Great Patriotic War.
In turn, the Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopyrkin noted the symbolism of the opening of the memorial center on February 23 - a day that many remember as Soviet Army Day.
"This is not only a tribute to the memory of Ivan Khristoforovich, this is a tribute to the memory of our common history. But I am absolutely convinced that this is a very important patriotic step in the Republic of Armenia. It is very important for us to remember our history, because it is the source of our strength today and tomorrow," Kopyrkin noted.
In turn, the Ambassador of Belarus to Armenia Alexander Konyuk congratulated everyone on this significant event and noted that for him, as a Belarusian general, this is a very significant event.
"The name of Baghramyan is sacred for the Belarusian people because he participated in the liberation of Belarus - my country. He proved by his example that friendship between our peoples is an inviolable concept. Those who do not remember history, cosmopolitans who do not remember kinship - they must clearly understand that a people or a person who does not remember history are forced to repeat these not so pleasant moments of history," the Belarusian diplomat noted.
He also said that the grand opening of the Armenian Apostolic Church would take place in Belarus on May 9 and invited all veterans to this significant event.
In conclusion, he called for remembering the inviolability of friendship between the Armenian and Belarusian peoples, despite some attempts to destroy it.
Veterans of the Great Patriotic War were also present at the opening. The work on the exhibition lasted six months.
