ArmInfo. Due to unfavorable weather conditions, classes in Armenian schools on February 21 have been canceled. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia.
According to the report, the missed days of classes will be compensated during the academic year.
A number of higher educational institutions of the country have also decided to postpone classes.
A powerful cyclone has approached Armenia, which brought with it heavy snowfall and blizzards on the roads. In Yerevan alone, precipitation corresponding to the monthly norm fell in 10 hours. Currently, heavy snowfall continues in a number of regions of the republic. As reported by the Road Department, organizations servicing interstate and republican highways are working in an enhanced mode.
Having concentrated all their resources, they work around the clock, clearing roads and sprinkling them with salt and sand. "For safety reasons, we kindly ask drivers to drive exclusively on winter tires, be extremely vigilant, strictly follow traffic rules and not exceed the speed limit. Up-to-date information on road conditions can be obtained by calling the hotline at (010) 562533," the Department said in a statement.
At the same time, the Rescue Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs notes that in just one day, 359 cars were rescued from snow captivity, and 877 citizens received the necessary assistance.
