ArmInfo.Ombudsman of Armenia Anahit Manasyan is taking part in the latest meeting of the current Board of the Council of the European Network of National Human Rights Institutions (ENNHRI), held in Brussels.
According to the press service of the Ombudsman of Armenia, the current state and upcoming tasks of ENNHRI, as well as the organization's achievements in the field of human rights protection, were discussed at the meeting. The participants also reviewed the process of developing a new strategic program for the Council.
During the discussions, Manasyan announced her intention to actively participate in the work of the European network aimed at protecting fundamental human rights.
In this regard, the office of the Ombudsman of Armenia recalled that, following the results of the vote held on February 7, 2024, at the general meeting of ENNHRI, Manasyan was elected as a member of the Management Council of the European Network of National Human Rights Institutions for a term of one year. "The Armenian Human Rights Defender's Institute was then included in the governing body of the European Network for the first time," the statement said.
The European Network of National Human Rights Institutions (ENNHRI), formerly known as the European Group of National Human Rights Institutions, primarily assists in the establishment and accreditation of European NHRIs, coordinates the exchange of information and best practices among its members, facilitates capacity building and training, engages with international and regional mechanisms for the protection and promotion of human rights, and intervenes in legal and political developments in Europe. ENNHRI is one of four regional networks within the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI), supported by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR).
