ArmInfo. The Second and Third Presidents of Armenia, as well as their political teams, together with the general public, urge Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan to make public the official proposals of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs on Artsakh from 2019. Former member of the National Assembly of Armenia, public and political figure Naira Zohrabyan stated this in a conversation with journalists on February 17.
She drew attention to the fact that the Prime Minister of Armenia was presented with a modified version of the agreement, according to which Artsakh, as well as the Karvachar (Kelbajar) and Kashatagh (Lachin) regions would remain under the jurisdiction of Armenia. At the same time, peacekeeping forces would be stationed in the five returned regions, and this situation would remain until the time of the referendum is agreed upon, which would mean that Artsakh would remain Armenian under any status.
"I am saying this for the first time, but during the war, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan convened a closed session in the National Assembly and announced a certain proposal. When we asked him to voice its content, he said that it was the proposal of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, and that was the only reason they could not agree to it. This was a clear crime. We must all demand that the Prime Minister explain what proposal was made to him in 2019," Zohrabyan said.
The former MP expressed her conviction that it was Pashinyan's decision not to bring the OSCE MG proposal up for discussion that caused the 44-day war of 2020. In this regard, Zohrabyan called on the parliamentary opposition to appeal to the OSCE MG co-chairs with a request to publish the 2019 document themselves, so that it would be clear to everyone that a crime had taken place.
"Nikol Pashinyan did everything possible to ensure that Artsakh did not remain Armenian, and he bears direct responsibility for the forced displacement of the Artsakh people. Political forces and the public must demand the publication of the 2019 proposal," Zohrabyan summed up, recalling that earlier, ANC deputy chairman Levon Zurabyan also noted that the publication of this document would be the basis for ending the current catastrophe in the country.
Let us recall that back in 2019, Nikol Pashinyan announced the start of negotiations from his own "point", and not from the one where his predecessor Serzh Sargsyan had settled. In this vein, the first president of Armenia, Levon Ter-Petrosyan, demanded that the authorities publish the proposals of the OSCE Minsk Group, instead of interpreting them at their own discretion. Later, other presidents, as well as representatives of the opposition, joined this demand.
