ArmInfo.On the occasion of the completion of his diplomatic mission, Armenian Ambassador to Cyprus Tigran Mkrtchyan met with Speaker of the House of Representatives of Cyprus Anita Demetriou.
According to the press service of the Armenian Embassy in Greece, Mkrtchyan thanked the Speaker of the Parliament of Cyprus for his principled position on issues related to Armenia and the Armenian people. At the same time, he emphasized the importance of developing relations with Cyprus at all levels, especially noting the continued activity within the framework of parliamentary diplomacy. In this context, the possibilities of visiting Armenia in the near future were discussed.
The Ambassador also presented details regarding the adoption of the bill "On the beginning of the process of Armenia's membership in the European Union" by the Armenian legislature in the first reading.
The steps taken by official Yerevan to sign a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as regional developments, were presented.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives of Cyprus noted that she accepted the invitation to visit Armenia, adding that the Republic is of strategic importance to Cyprus. She reiterated Cyprus' unwavering support for Armenia's territorial integrity and sovereignty. Anita Dimitriou thanked Armenia for its continued support in matters related to Cyprus.
The meeting was attended by the representative of the Armenian community in the House of Representatives of Cyprus Vardges Mahdesyan.
