Deputy FM: Armenia`s proposal to Azerbaijan to establish mutual arms  control  mechanism  still in effect

ArmInfo.Armenia's proposal to Azerbaijan to establish a mechanism for mutual arms control is still in force. Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Vahan Kostanyan told journalists  during a briefing, responding to  inquiries about why Armenia and Azerbaijan are increasing their armaments despite efforts towards peace.

In particular, the Deputy Foreign Minister noted that by arming  itself, Armenia is exercising its sovereign right and developing its  defense potential. Kostanyan said.  At  the request of journalists to comment on the statements of the  Azerbaijani leader regarding the so-called "Zangezur corridor", and  "territorial claims",  the deputy minister noted that the Armenian  top leadership already responded to such statements several times.  This includes referencing the latest article by Prime Minister Nikol  Pashinyan. Kostanyan also added that these statements are intended to  create an atmosphere of  escalation in the region. "Armenia will not  succumb to such provocations, and we will continue to approach the  process (regulation of relations - ed.) constructively," the diplomat  said. In the event of a military invasion, he noted that naturally,  Armenia must protect its territorial integrity using all its tools,  including diplomatic ones. The deputy minister also recalled that  Armenia has long been waiting for a response from the Azerbaijani  side to the latest proposals on the  peace treaty text. "We hope to  receive an answer in the short term so that the process can continue.  Armenia remains constructively minded and involved in the negotiation  process, as always,> the Deputy Foreign Minister emphasized.

It should be noted that the article by RA Prime Minister Nikol  Pashinyan states that Azerbaijan is making statements  at the highest  level that challenge the territorial integrity of the Republic of  Armenia, despite the agreements made in Prague.
