ArmInfo. The biggest challenge for Armenia in joining the European Union is meeting the standards set by this structure. This was stated by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during the government hour in the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia on February 12, while responding to a question from Zaruhi Batoyan, an MP from the Civil Contract faction.
The National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia approved the draft law "On Launching Armenia's EU Accession Process" in the first reading at its plenary session on February 12. Members of the ruling faction in the country voted in favor of the document.
According to Pashinyan, if the document is adopted, Armenia will need to put in significant efforts to align its national standards with those of the EU. This includes improving the system of public administration, combating corruption, enhancing economic transparency, promoting accountability, and strengthening the state of civil society and democracy. This work, the Prime Minister continued, is crucial for Armenia itself, in order to establish a system in the country that meets European standards.
