ArmInfo. Yerevan highly values and treasures the friendship that has developed between Armenia and Iran and will make every effort to strengthen it in the future. This was stated yesterday at an event organized on the occasion of the national holiday of the Islamic Republic of Iran - the 46th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution, by RA Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan.
"For more than 30 years, joint efforts have been made to strengthen and develop interstate cooperation based on the millennial ties between the peoples of Armenia and Iran. The basis of these relations is mutual trust, full respect and understanding of each other's positions," the Deputy Prime Minister noted, as quoted by the press service of the RA government.
Grigoryan emphasized that today Armenia has multi-sectoral cooperation with Iran, which it intends to consistently expand.
The Deputy Prime Minister also pointed out the importance of economic cooperation, which has achieved outstanding results, especially in recent years. He stressed that the continuation of cooperation between the two countries is of paramount importance and is an essential factor in regional security, stability and normal development.
"In this context, I must once again emphasize that the Government of the Republic of Armenia highly appreciates Iran's clear, principled and public position on the need for full and unconditional respect for the territorial integrity of Armenia and the inviolability of its internationally recognized borders," the Deputy Prime Minister noted.
According to the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia, the foreign trade turnover between Armenia and Iran increased by 5.2% in January-November 2024, amounting to $661.5 million. At the same time, exports increased by 13% to $99.3 million, while imports grew by 3.9% to $562.2 million.
